 SOCIETY MEETINGS & LECTURES

Meetings are held at the Brynmawr Social Club, 61 Beaufort Street, Brynmawr, NP23 4AE

Ordinary meetings are held on the the 3rd Wednesday January to May and September to December.

Meetings commence at 7:00pm, except December which starts at 6:30pm

Eifion Lloyd Davies

WEDNESDAY 16th APRIL  2025 - MR JOHN WEBB OF CRICKHOWELL

Everyone's invited to our next talk on Wednesday 16th April at 7pm in the Brynmawr Social Club.

Prior to the talk there will be a short AGM where you can find out more about the activities of our Society.

This month's talk will be by Mr John Webb of "Webbs Crickhowell", he will talk about running a family business. John is a very entertaining speaker and an enjoyable experience is guaranteed.

WEDNESDAY 19th MARCH 2025 - EIFION DAVIES MEMORIAL EVENING

The Brynmawr Museum and Historical Society's next talk will be the Eifion Davies Memorial evening.

The tribute will be given by Mike Edwards, one of Eifion's oldest friends and colleagues.

If you knew Eifion this is your chance to be reminded of all the good work he did in and for the community.

Please come along to the Brynmawr Social Club in Beaufort Street next Wednesday the 19th March at 7pm and help us celebrate Eifion's contribution to our local heritage.

Entrance is free and all are welcome.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Wednesday 19th February  -  "Ironmasters to Landed Gentry: the Baileys of Glanusk"

Everyone are invited to come along to the Society's next talk which will be held in Brynmawr Social Club in Beaufort Street at 7pm on Wednesday 19th February 2025.

The talk will be given by Eliane Wigzell, a local historian specialising in the social history of the 19th Century.

She has written several books, her most recent publication is "The Great Houses of Crickhowell".

The title of Elaine's talk is "Ironmasters to Landed Gentry: the Baileys of Glanusk"

Please join us for an interesting evening.

The first Historical talk of 2025 will take place on Wednesday 15th January at 7pm in the Brynmawr Social Club.

The talk is entitled "Welsh Pilgrimages and will be given by Anne Haywood.

Anne read History at Oxford University and went on to become a teacher. In recent years, she has walked thousands of miles to places of pilgrimage in Wales, Ireland, Brittany, England and the Isle of Man, with each pilgrimage beginning and ending at her home in the Brecon Beacons. .

Admission to the talk is free and all are invited to spend a pleasant evening listening to Anne's adventures.
